Rhubarb

Rhubarb, Rheum officinale is used as a laxative.  It is used in Chinese for a number of abdominal complaints. It is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory if applied externally.

It is easy to grow. Simply direct sow in the spring.

I have to admit that I’m not one hundred percent sure this picture is of R. officinale.  The plant was here when I moved in. There is another Rhubarb, R. palmatum which is similar.  I’m fairly sure this is R. officinale though. Garden Rhubarb is Rheum x cultorum.

You can get seed from me Horizon Herbs.
